2017 : St-Étienne-de-Lauzon, QC
Organized by Réal Saindon and his brothers, with the assistance of Lea Vachon, we began Friday evening with an excellent “wine and cheese” still wondering what would happen to the spectacular outdoor programme at St-Séverin planned for the following day.
Change of Program
The organizers wisely chose to wait until after breakfast Saturday to take any decision with regard to adjusting the program. As a result, the Annual General Meeting and the presentations originally planned for the afternoon, were moved to the morning in hopes that the weather would improve.
Unfortunately, even after lunch, the forecast for St-Séverin was still 80% chance of rain. A bowling tournament was quickly organized as an indoor alternative and we were able to appreciate the talents of veteran players as well as beginners. Some brave ones headed out to Séverin anyway, where they found sunny skies and returned to tell the bowlers what they had all missed. Others spontaneously went to pick blueberries. Saindons are very resourceful!
All were back together at 6pm for the traditional dinner served by Réal, his son Stéphane and two granddaughters, Coralie and Océanne; beef and chicken were on the menu. Dinner was followed by the drawing of door prizes, some of which had been donated by our outgoing President, Martine Saindon. A special draw was made for a beautiful table cloth woven and offered by Louise Thinel; won by Anne-Marie Saindon from Connecticut. The profits of this special draw went toward financing the commemorative plaque at Bains
